I designed this publication of houses throughout seven decades,
from the 1960’s to the future year of 2040.
I wanted to communicate how modernism has taken away the individuality and uniqueness of houses as the ones from the 1950s-1990’s used to be a lot more bright and had their own style and shown that design matters when it comes to houses.
Modern houses today are quite bland as they use the same three colours of white, black and grey and have very similar boxy exteriors. Modernism has implimented basic shapes and minimalism to new homes that they don’t really have the ‘home’ look compared to the houses back then.

Modernism has had a negative effect on houses in terms of aesthetic and societal trends, however they now have a better impact on the planet which is why I designed the 2040 house to still have a modernist look
but I also wanted it
to be a bit more eco-friendly.
